A few days ago I put a couple photos of an internal spring loaded split nut. These have a spring loaded half nut which presses against an non threaded collar. When the button is pressed the nut opens, allowing the threaded rod to slide. When the button is released, the half nut engages the threads. To see the photos better, click on them to enlarge.
