Cliff, what you're talking about doesn't help me any AT THE MOMENT, but it doesn't bother me, either. I'm archiving all the messages I get, and one day I may be REALLY glad to have this stuff in my available resources. A 2HP 3phase motor might be a little overkill for a stock Gingery lathe, and is CERTAINLY so for my little chinese 7x10 lathe, but while this thing is my first metalcutting lathe, it may not be the last. I sure hope not, anyway! ;)
Keep it up, it's good info to have for later. Most folks going the Gingery route are doing it to gain skills and knowledge. This discussion contributes to that even if not DIRECTLY applicable right now.
