On shaper I used bronze bearings- I think they are oil impregnated, any way they are actual bronze bearings from ENCO or elsewhere....
I think with bearings the trick is to have enough surface area to keep the load to area ratio small enough so they are not overloaded. I basically used Gingery's speced bearing sizes on shaper so far. I still do not have table built so cant say for sure but wathcing it run it seems like it will work fine... I must admit sometimes I turn it on and just watch it run... it seems to have a calming effect on me in the midst of daily life aggravations and toils.. I stop and njoy and little bit of satisfaction seeing something I made myself in action!
Regards
Bradley

Hello CT2
I have been useing ball bearing pillow blocks on the machines
I have built.
They seem to be doing fine, except most of them are larger than
a Gingery shafts are.

What type of bearings are you using on your machines for spindle & countershaft bearings?? How are they holding up?
Are your bronze bearings "oilite" (sintered bronze) or cast bronze?
Sintered bronze (Oilite)
Cast bronze
Ball bearings
Bronze pillow blocks
Ball pillow blocks
Tapered roller bearings
