Most fundamentalists, and indeed, some major Christian churches say the words are direct from God. I believe the correct term is "inspired by God." If indeed, God gave the writers the exact words, why the differences in the four Gospels. Why are they different at all from each other? SIMPLE: The events are reported with the individual biases of the writers. Matthew was a public servant. Mark was a young idealist follower of Luke, who was highly educated. A physician interested in the workings of the mind. John was a full contemporary of Jesus, and witnessed events first hand. Why would he need God's exact words?
Paul wrote the rules/laws of the early church. Do you think he was NOT influenced by his past as an member of, and an enforcer for the Sanhedrin Courts? Walt
