Thanks for every ones help..(brite,nick,and jarod) ...all of you have been
very helpful ..I think you hit the nail on the head about the riser and
gates..I did not think of using a riser and I can make my gate bigger as
well..I think this will help alot....melt size is not a problem...my big
crucible is 6 di x 8 ht. And I have two 4di x 8 as well..I'm going to recast
this next week before we start packing..we are looking for a house with more
workshop space and room to plant a garden..my wife said if I need to I can
get a work shop built if there is none were we move to..yippy...he..he..I'm
not moving far don't want to go far from metal express and I have a guy that
sells coal near by for $25 bucks for 80 pound bags..I'm not given that up..

Add a riser connected to that area in order to provide more metal. When it
cools, the riser portion should shrink instead of the headstock. You just
cut that off your casting and clean it up. Of course, you'll have to pour a
bit more metal to fill the mold...
