Hi All,
In looking at 3-jaw, & 4-jaw lathe chucks one sees that the 4-jaw is often sized larger than the 3-jaw. For example, I see a small lathe is sized with a 4" 3-jaw & 5" 4-jaw or 6" 3-jaw & 8" 4-jaw.
Why is this done? Why not use a larger 3-jaw chuck save for the weight?
KInd regards,
DBN
