Sue, For stringing the 5-8mm beads, I think any kind of bead string wire would work, but buy the coated wire. Sometimes I use 6mm in my seed bead work and I use nylon beading thread. Hope this helps.

I'm very new to beading and have purchased beads, clasps, tools, books, etc. I've got a few questions about clamshells, tho. I've got stretch cord .5 and .7 mm. The beads are mostly glass and wood, 5 thru 8 mm. How do I know what size of clamshells to get? Also, for the sizes of beads I have, what sizes of beading string/thread do I use?
