Have you tried taking the castings outside (away from any nice
machines) and hitting the casting with an angle grinder? I saw a tip
about doing that to iron castings in a magazine a while back and have
been meaning to try it. Just grinding off enough to let the cutter
get under the inclusions without having to start the cut in hard
stuff.
