I cast another lathe bed today, using slightly damper sand, and it came out with a better texture. I posted a photo of it, my first casting and the pattern on Gingery machines 2, under Randy's lathe. This is fun stuff! Next thing I want to do is build a snap flask for the end pieces, since I have to make four of them. Making the patterns seems to be most of the work, so I'm casting an extra of every part for a buddy who doesn't have the tools to do this stuff on his own.
