Welcome and hope you find all you questions answered. You ask HOBBY? Most people do not enjoy getting up and going to work. Or say I did not enjoy the last three years of my working career. The only thing that kept me from loosing my mind was this hobby. A hobby is something you can learn and in the learning you can pace yourself or hammer down. What you have at the end of the day it is yours. And what you make is just the icing on the cake when you enjoy what you are doing. It has been said many times here "it the journey and what we learn and enjoy along the way". Again welcome and hope your new year be one full new learning and a hobby that will grow on you. A word of warning, when you get bite, there is no turn back.

Is something that you spend all of your waking time to considered a hobby? Not that I am able to, but one can't stop the mind from working on projects. Hopefully in the new year I will be able to acquire the Gingery series, but until then I will use what I have to get by. I love working with metals and really appreciate the labor of others on this site. One day I WILL have a Gingery machine shop to play in, so is it really a hobby if you do things that you love? I work everyday, so for me it is more of a passion then anything else.
