That flat steel is more than likely that crap China is shipping back to us after they shut all the mills down. Just more of what we have to look forward to.

This kind of metal I found is very common so if I can make it work, that will be an advantage. I much prefer the strap that is rolled on all 4 sides but it seems to be replaced by just shearing larger sheets of steel. The edges tend to be rather sharp which I certainly do not like.

I think I would find a strip that was not sheared.
I got some CRS strips that are rolled on all 4 sides.
I think it would not take much to true them up.
