The watch makers lathe is an 'American Watch and Tool Co' made in the early 1900's. It suffered much abuse in its past life but still works pretty good! I have most if not all the original collets, face plates, and tooling. Of coarse it works much like a wood lathe so accuracy is in the hand of the beholder. I'm building the little work bench, using hard maple. It's still a work in progress, as I need to fabricate a vice and wedge clamping system to hold hand work. I made it a tilt bench so I can clamp it to my shop desk or other low bench and tilt the work toward me. The clamping system will be able to hold any shape snuggly with out damage and should be useful for making patterns and finishing castings or jewelery projects!
