Large group nabbed right where SBInet is operational
On February 18, 2011, the Border Patrol arrested an abnormally large group of illegal [ aliens] -- 128 of them, to be exact – crossing right through the middle of one of the "virtual fence" surveillance areas. Most of them have already been returned to Mexico. According to the Associated Press story, the area where the "Border Patrol surveillance video operators spotted a group of more than 100 people...

No funds OK'd for 150 inspectors needed for expanded Nogales port

New lanes at border face lack of staffing

NOGALES, Ariz. - The expanded port of entry under construction here could slash waits to cross the border and jump-start Arizona's sagging economy.
But there might not be enough officers when it opens to staff all the new inspection lanes.
Congress allocated $184 million to double the size of the Mariposa Port of Entry in western Nogales through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, also known as the stimulus package. But it didn't set aside money to hire the 150 additional officers needed to fully staff the port when it's completed in three years, said Nogales Port Director Guadalupe Ramirez.
Already, time-consuming searches and seizures at the three busy Nogales ports mean there aren't enough inspectors to keep all the lanes open - resulting in waits of up to four hours to cross the border on holiday weekends or during the winter produce season.
Without more officers, the four-year upgrade of the port could be a waste.

The Truth about Roger Barnett

Posted by: The Publisher on: February 27 2011 • Categorized in: Ed Ashurst

Cochise County rancher, Roger Barnett, is no stranger to anyone who reads or listens to news stories concerning current events on the Mexican-American border. Even in the midst of international crisis such as: Hosni Muburack's recent downfall, and the U.S. being on the highest level of terror alert, Roger, of late, has had equal footing on the prime time news shows. Fox News channel's chief bloviator, Bill O'Reilly, has seen fit to use Mr. Barnett's recent legal problems to feast upon, salivating over half truths, resulting from poor investigation.  O'Reilly should get his siblings, Katie Couric and Chris Mathews, along with Barack and Janet, and they could all mount up on their ego fueled brooms and visit the backwoods of southern Arizona and talk to some of the vigilantes they seem to loathe so much.

In an open letter to law enforcement leaders, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) asked sheriffs in California to cease harmful practices that target illegal alien communities. The letter comes at a time when California is burdened with nearly $30 billion budget deficits and a new Rasmussen Poll that states 67 percent of Americans want states to tackle the illegal alien problem plaguing the country.
