It's just the loss of memory regarding the Mission Statement at the time of beginning WAR in Afghanistan. I am sorry, I don't have the exact statement at hand. "The military, and political destruction of Al Queda, it's leader Osama Bin Laden, and those who give him sanctuary." No direct reference is made to the Talibhan. Old Rummy sort of paraphrased President Lincoln.: "If I can save the Union, etc." "If we can destroy Al Queada and Bin Laden w/o WAR against indigeous populations, we will." Bush 43 said it much plainer. "GONNA GET HIM."
I am sad to say it, Ms. Elaine, but the very EXISTENCE of this country's rabid right wing, military FUNDING, must always create a NEW enemy. Otherwise the people might just demand big cuts in the defense budget!! They have also lost the much ballyhooed "peace dividend" programs. TRILLIONS borrowed and SPENT, and much of it hidden in "off budget schemes." BILLIONS of dollars lost, never to be found, MUCH the fault of INCOMPETENT, crony program bosses. AND more to plain old CORRUPTION, ignored almost totally by the Bush 43 legal teams. One more thing. You can't award "emergency, no bid" contracts w/o stating it's need to fight an ENEMY quickly.
