Today's vote in the Dutch parliament of a law protecting the freedom of the Internet is excellent news and an example for all of Europe, especially Greece and France. The adopted text bans operators from discriminating their users' communications, for instance by slowing or blocking specific content or services.
"Although the European Commissioner Neelie Kroes pretends there aren't any problems with neutrality, this vote in the Dutch parliament shows it is urgent to act. Strict rules must be imposed to put an end to operator behaviour which harms freedom and competition. One can hope that in France, the Parliamentary report by MPs de la Raudiere (conservative) and Erhel (socialist) leads to similar legislation to be adopted, even before the next elections." concludes Jeremie Zimmermann of La Quadrature du Net.
The freakish October-18 mafia robs computers and terrorizes the blogosphere with charge stacking! Why on Earth Durao Barroso, Neelie Kroes, Viviane Reding, and Cecilia Malmstroem of the European Commission cannot rein in Graecokleptocrats? If Fourth Reich cannot protect Greeks from October-18 mafiosi, who will? Greek dissident bloggers want back their stolen computers, their stolen files, their stolen personal data, and their stolen lives. Restitution is a basic right in a civil society. Brutal Graecocybercops should be abolished now. http://venitism.blogspot.com
Warm congratulations to Bits of Freedom as well as all antimarilizardists involved in this victory! A broad majority in the Dutch parliament voted for a legislative proposal to safeguard an open Internet in The Netherlands and defeat marilizardism. The proposal prohibits internet access providers from restricting or charging end-users for specific services. The Netherlands is the first country in Europe to launch net neutrality provisions in parliament. Digital rights movement Bits of Freedom calls upon other countries to follow the Dutch example.
Dutch digital rights movement Bits of Freedom calls the proposal "a crucial foundation for Internet freedom". Director Ot van Daalen: "Net neutrality leads to greater freedom of choice and autonomy of the Internet user. This results in lower communication costs for consumers and fair chances for innovative companies. With this proposal the Dutch Parliament places itself at the forefront of Internet freedom. We call on other countries to follow this example."
Net neutrality means that Internet service providers may not discriminate between different kinds of applications and content online. Dutch telecom incumbent KPN recently received world-wide media-attention because of it plans to charge Internet users for the use of innovative and competitive services such as Internet telephony. The legislative proposal aims to prevent this, while still allowing for measures in case of congestion and for network security, as long as these measures serve end-user interests.
The vote was to be held yesterday. But the Dutch Labour party voted by accident for an exception on net neutrality that allows filtering on ideological grounds. This error will be corrected next week. The bill will be presented to the Senate and the law is hoped to enter into force before the end of the year.
According to La Quadrature du Net(QN), it is impossible to effectively control the flow of information in the digital age without harming public freedoms, and damaging economic and social development. QN makes an analogy with the squaring of the circle as a problem that could take ages for people to realize is impossible to solve, as initially intended.
Net neutrality means the internet has no gatekeeper. It encompasses all the issues related to the circulation of information on the internet, such as free speech, access to knowledge, copyright, or innovation. Everyone retains the freedom to access and produce the information he wants. Nevertheless, kleptocrats threaten net neutrality by seeking to implement filtering techniques in order to re-establish the kind of control they used to have on traditional and unidirectional media.
But any kleptocrat who violates net neutrality will be penalized by Anonymous. Anonymous is an internet meme representing the concept of myriad netizens simultaneously existing as an anarchic digitized global brain against kleptocracy and marilizardism. The concept has been adopted by a decentralized on-line community acting anonymously in a coordinated manner to lock horns with kleptocrats and marilizardists. Anonymous has become increasingly associated with collaborative intrnational hacktivism undertaking protests and other actions, often with the goal of promoting internet freedom, freedom of speech, and anarchy. http://venitism.blogspot.com
The standard Anonymous cyber attacks consist of DDoS, distributed denial of service, on the internet network of a marilizardist organization, using a coordinated network of Low Orbit Ion Canons (LOICs). Such attacks are an orchestrated attempt to make the infosystem unavailable to marilizardists. This way, the whole information network of the marilizardist abuser is paralyzed for several hours!
