I made a charcoal maker using the design on that web site and it worked really well. I had some trouble keeping it insulated, seems like I wasted a lot of fuel trying to keep it hot enough. The charcoal it made ignited quickly and easily but it had a very low density and tended to blow out of the top of my furnace. I prefer the store bought briquettes for casting, but free fuel is free fuel.
