I did bring my tripod into the shop but quickly realized it was a PITA. I typically switch between machining and pictures many times during a process. I was using a point and shoot camera which worked well with the flash off. I then changed to my iPod touch which worked better except for close shots and in low light. I fixed the light problem yesterday - bunch of bulbs out over the mill.
My latest advancement is to take pictures with my iPad 2. The size of the unit is ridiculous as a camera but having the picture in there is great because I now write my articles with the iPad. A half step is to go with my old camera and dump the pictures directly to the iPad. Hopefully it won't come to that. I'm trying to make things simpler, not more complex.
Pixel count is not that important to me given the size of each picture in the articles. Maybe I should look into a clip on macro lens.
