Was Barak Obama abandoned by his parents and raised by his grandmother? I think that the environment in which he grew up was far from ideal. At least, he wasn't raised by murders, alcoholics, or drug addicts. Of course, I wouldn't vote for him unless he was one of the smartest, wisest, best educated, most knowledgeable people on the planet. I think that he is very smart, but not very knowledgeable.
