This very short story is from the book "Entrepreneurs are made, not born". Ed Beauvais had a dream that an airline company that operated efficiently, motivated its employees and served its customers economically would succeed and rise above its fat, slow, lazy and smug competition. Beauvais could not create deregulation, which would be vital, if his dream were to work. Then, coincidentally, the Reagan administration stepped in and established an era of deregulation in the airline industry. So, Ed seized the opportunity provided by deregulation and America West Airlines was born.
Of course, I disagree with a lot of the things that Reagan had done. What matters to me the most is the effects of government policies, not individuals who implement them. There may have never been an elected official or anyone else with whom I would agree on everything. Nevertheless, I like the effect that deregulation always has on job creation and on income growth.
