You beat me to it, the bending moment on the support shaft worries me also. Moving the pivot bearing closer to the wheels and increasing the support shaft diameter would help.

Rod,
I love the idea but have a problem with the vertical bars that support the wheels. It wouldn't take much to bend them. How would you modify the design so it would be as strong as a front/back motion?
