Obama promises to help unemployed veterans(a portion of the article) To give new veterans a better chance at jobs, Obama said that he ordered the Defense Department to create a "reverse boot camp" to help them turn their military skills into skills for civilian jobs. "I'm calling on every state to pass legislation that makes it easier for our veterans to get the credentials and the jobs for which they are so clearly qualified," he said. Obama also challenged private business to hire 100,000 unemployed veterans. Gayle asks a really good question see below A federal judge has blocked implementation of Alabama's tough anti-illegal immigration law saying that she needed more time to decide if the law was constitutional or not. In the meantime the law, which was passed by the Alabama state legislature and signed by Alabama's governor, will be in legal limbo. Why do we even bother to have elections to choose our representatives when a judge can come along at any moment and issue a ruling which crushes the will of the people? The people of Alabama have spoken and said that they want tough measures against illegal immigration. And the federal government, which does nothing to stop illegal immigration, steps in and tells the people of Alabama that what they want doesn't matter. It is now being reported that the Director of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives, Kenneth Melson, will leave his BATFE post and join the Department of Justice (DOJ) staff. The continuation of "business as usual" in Washington DC reaffirms accountability in federal agencies is hard to come by.
