I'm sure the team has a website. Go there and let them know that you are being
approached about beading up their logo by fans.
Let them know; you understand the Logo is copyrighted, which is why you are
contacting them. That you are not talking about mass-marketing the design -
most likely you will make and sell less then 100 items. (Of course, adjust this
number if you have a larger customer base ;)
Ask if they would be willing to give permission based on X number of projected
sales or maybe work a deal where you pay a small commission to them per sale.
Get ANY agreement in writing - don't take just a verbal 'Yeah, okay'. You want
to have something to show if you are confronted (example: you're at a show).
Send photo examples of your work so they have a visual idea of what you are
asking.
All they can do is say - No thank you.
