I considered firebrick. They cost 4.60 each with a slight discount for
quantity.
I ordered 8 square feet of 1" thick ceramic blanket for under $30
including tax and a handling charge. (Local pickup)
This should give me enough to double wrap an 8" bore furnace. I intend
to buy 1 insulating firebrick to cut in half for a plinth block.
This ceramic blanket would be great for stuffing leaks in your furnace.
Another bonus is the weight.
