Dec 25 Texas Warns Holiday Travelers To Stay Out Of Mexico
AUSTIN (AP) – The Texas Department of Public Safety is warning Texans to avoid traveling to Mexico during the holidays.  DPS Director Steven C. McCraw says Mexican drug cartel-related violence continues in northern Mexico border cities as well as in popular tourist towns, such as Acapulco and Monterrey.  McCraw says the safety of holiday travelers "cannot be guaranteed if they venture into Mexico."  Authorities say kidnappings, cartel turf wars and battles between cartels and law enforcement have escalated in recent years....

.AP IMPACT: Mexico says its troops killed US man

Associated Press Alexandra Olson, Associated Press – Sat Dec 25, 12:58 pm ET
MEXICO CITY – Joseph Proctor told his girlfriend he was popping out to the convenience store in the quiet Mexican beach town where the couple had just moved, intending to start a new life.
The next morning, the 32-year-old New York native was dead inside his crashed van on a road outside Acapulco. He had multiple bullet wounds. An AR-15 rifle lay in his hands.
His distraught girlfriend, Liliana Gil Vargas, was summoned to police headquarters, where she was told Proctor had died in a gunbattle with an army patrol. They claimed Proctor — whose green van had a for-sale sign and his cell phone number spray-painted on the windows — had attacked the troops. They showed her the gun.
His mother, Donna Proctor, devastated and incredulous, has been fighting through Mexico's secretive military justice system ever since to learn what really happened on the night of Aug. 22.
It took weeks of pressuring U.S. diplomats and congressmen for help, but she finally got an answer, which she shared with The Associated Press.
Three soldiers have been charged with killing her son. Two have been charged with planting the assault rifle in his hands and claiming falsely that he fired first, according to a Mexican Defense Department document sent to her through the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City.
It is at least the third case this year in which soldiers, locked in a brutal battle with drug cartels, have been accused of killing innocent civilians and faking evidence in cover-ups.

Dispatch investigation: Deportation nation

Deported illegal immigrants return repeatedly

Monday, December 27, 2010 02:51 AM
Federal agents took an illegal immigrant to Grant Medical Center in October 2009 to collect proof of his ties to a Mexican-based drug ring.
During his two-day hospital stay, Jose Aranda-Mora supplied the needed evidence - 92 balloons of heroin that he had swallowed before a traffic stop in Richland County.
Three months earlier, immigration agents had deported Mora to his homeland of Mexico. But the free ride home served as no deterrent. Since 2000, Mora has been deported four times, only to return time and again - most recently to Ohio.

POSTED: 11:41 am PST December 27, 2010
SALINAS, Calif. -- A 24-year-old in the country illegally is accused of molesting a 5-year-old girl, Seaside police said Monday.

Octavio Jimenez-Garcia was arrested after he attempted to elude capture by providing an officer with a different name and date of birth, police said.
Police were notified about Jimenez-Garcia on Dec. 17 when they received a report that he committed lewd and lascivious acts with the victim.
After Jimenez-Garcia was arrested, police said they learned that he was a previously deported felon and in the country illegally.
The Department of Homeland Security was notified and deportation proceedings are under way.

I will let you decide what your thoughts are on - deporting criminals instead of
making them serve their time - JUSTICE Served
My thoughts....are that the overriding considerations concerning deportation
versus time served and then deportation - is two fold
1. For non violent crimes such as immigration violations - they should be deported
immediately - no more Club Med at taxpayer expense
2. Justice should be served for the remaining crimes - THEN DEPORTED
No Club Med in prison either.

The problem with both scenarios are
Without a SECURE BORDER - most will simply return - and this must be stopped!

Maybe if the illegal aliens knew that upon finding out they are in the Country illegally
that they would be deported - it would decrease the number of illegal aliens AND...
if they were also aware and informed that if they commit a crime - that they will
serve time - JUSTICE SERVED and then deported

All it would take to get the ball and education rolling is for Congress to enforce the law
and secure the border.

A rush by federal agents to deport jailed illegal immigrants sets criminal suspects free and allows them to plan their return

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

NEAL C. LAURON | DISPATCH

Federal immigration officials deported a man after he was caught on the North Side this past spring with almost a pound of heroin. He faced 20 years in prison but never served a day.

Federal officials also deported a witness to an East Side killing. The prosecution's case fell apart without his testimony, so the U.S. citizen charged with murder was freed.

A Franklin County grand jury indicted a man for molesting a child in 2008, but the charges came seven months too late. He had been deported, depriving the 6-year-old abuse victim of justice.

Federal immigration agents regularly sweep illegal immigrants out of Ohio jails and deport them. But immigration agents and local prosecutors are not talking to one another before that decision is made.

10 suspected illegal immigrants held after Turnpike stop

State police stopped a van around 9:30 this morning for having a broken windshield on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and have since turned over all of the 10 men inside to immigration authorities for not having documents proving they can legally work in the United States.
After troopers stopped them at the New Stanton interchange, three of the men fled. Troopers quickly found the first two and found the third about an hour later, Sgt. Anthony Deluca said.
Nine of the men are from El Salvador and one is from Honduras. Police believe they were on their way from Maryland to Jeannette to work on a federally funded project, Mr. Deluca said.
