Dear Members 1. The link below from the Pew Hispanic Center will take you to an interactive (Is that the word?) map of the U.S. showing the number of illegal aliens in each of the U.S. states. The map says, for instance, that our state of Maine has 10,000 illegal aliens. ****************************************************** 2. Securing U.S. border tops immigration strategyBy George H. Only patronize businesses that hire Americans and legal workers. www.ICE.gov/IMAGE A little known employment verification program run by ICE (Immigrations and Customs Enforcement) is spreading throughout San Diego County and the country. IMAGE (ICE Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers) is a relatively new tool for employers in the fight against illegal immigration. Earlier this month, UNICEL Corporation in Escondido, CA became the first business in that city, known nationwide for its strong stance against illegal immigration, to be IMAGE certified. UNICEL owner Mike Henderson says he was glad to take an active role in combating the number one draw of illegal aliens to the country. "We are pleased to be IMAGE certified. We learned a lot about what legal documents look like and now feel confident as a business," Henderson said. "The process was painless, enjoyable and now we will avoid any fines because we have the correct paperwork."...... Read full article here: *********************************** 6. Stricter rules for entry are ignored at border Inspectors are allowing travelers to enter the U.S. without secure IDMore than 18 months after U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspectors were supposed to start enforcing stringent ID requirements at the nation's land borders, millions of travelers are still being admitted without passports or other secure IDs, a new government audit shows. An Office of Inspector General report released Monday found that CBP remains unprepared to fully implement the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, which officially took effect in June 2009 and requires all travelers, including U.S. citizens, to carry passports or one of a handful of other forms of secure ID. In the first eight months after the requirements took effect, 2.3 million travelers failed to provide proper paperwork at U.S. land ports of entry. ******************************************** 7. Obama quietly erasing bordersDem administration advancing 'North American Union' agendaDecember 15, 2010 From wnd.com:Acting quietly, below the radar of U.S. public opinion and without congressional approval, the Obama administration is implementing a key policy objective of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America, or SPP, to erase the border with Mexico and Canada. The administration is acting under a State Department-declared policy initiative described in a March 23 fact sheet titled "United States-Mexico Partnership: A New Border Vision." "Mexico and the United States have a shared interest in creating a 21st century border that promotes the security and prosperity of both countries," the State Department declared. "The U.S. and Mexican governments have launched a range of initiatives that challenge the traditional view of 'hold the line' and are developing a framework for a new vision of 21st century border management."
