No one has a hard number on how many illegal's are in the country but the Florida Hospital Association says the cost to hospital is staggering and everyone is paying for it.
Illegal aliens come into this country every day. In fact, more than one million live in Florida. The influx of illegals has a devastating affect on hospitals through out the state, including Tampa bay. Carol Plato, who testified before a legislative committee, says the Florida Hospital Association estimates the cost is $100 million for illegal patient care.
And part of the reason the cost is so high, is because illegal aliens often use the emergency room as their primary care physician. Usually illegal's don't have insurance and very little money, which means they can pay the bill. However, that doesn't mean the bill isn't paid. Those who have insurance pick up the difference and that's a major reason things are so expensive when you're in the hospital.

It owes more than $25 billion, businesses and residents are fleeing like dine-and-dash customers to less taxed states; this financial catastrophe is leaving a gaping spending and revenue problem for the Golden State. Rational lawmakers would see the writing on the wall and start cutting the budget line by line. However, adding insult to injury, one California lawmaker thinks the state should allow illegal aliens to apply and receive dwindling financial aid for colleges. Bill seeks ban on workers' comp for illegal immigrants in Georgia State lawmakers filed legislation Monday seeking to ban illegal immigrants from collecting workers' compensation benefits for on-the-job injuries in Georgia. Sponsored by Sen. Bill Heath, SB7 would prohibit people from collecting wage loss and medical benefits unless they were in the country legally at the time of their injury. Similar legislation is moving through the Montana Legislature. More legislation dealing with illegal immigration -- much more -- is expected to be filed in Georgia's statehouse this week. State lawmakers have introduced bills already aimed at barring illegal immigrants from attending state colleges and blocking employers from hiring them. ********************************************* 4. http://www.star-telegram.com/2011/01/20/2785084/governor-gives-voter-id-bill-emergency.html

AUSTIN -- The state Senate is expected to take up controversial voter ID legislation next week after Gov. Rick Perry designated it an emergency issue that he wants lawmakers to pass within the first 60 days of the legislative session.
Perry, who has already designated property rights and so-called sanctuary cities as emergency items, on Thursday added two more items to the list: the voter ID bill and legislation calling for a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
"Fiscal discipline, balanced budgets and the integrity of the ballot box are critical to the people of Texas," Perry said Thursday. "Under this emergency declaration, Texas lawmakers will be able to address these priority issues more quickly."
Perry's announcement prompted sharp criticism among Democrats. ******************************************** 5. Just a reminder from Citizens In Action | Buy American!
| To our members,
You've probably heard this many times, but it bears repeating!
As a physics teacher told students:
"While one grasshopper on the railroad tracks wouldn't slow a train very much, a billion of them would."
In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects someone else--even their job. This lady is on the right track! Let's get behind her!
"I was in Lowe's the other day for some reason and was looking at hose attachments. They were all made in China! The next day, I was in ACE Hardware and, just for the heck of it, I checked the hose attachments there. They were made in the USA! A friend was in Lowe's looking for a sprinkler head--Rain Bird and Orbits brands. Rain Bird? Made in Mexico; Orbits? Made in USA! (Orbits purchased!)
My grandson likes Hershey's candy. I noticed, though, that it is marked 'Made in Mexico' now. I do not buy it any more. My favorite toothpaste, Colgate, is 'Made in Mexico...' now I've switched to Crest.
You have to read the labels on everything!
This past weekend, I was at Kroger's. I needed 60 W light bulbs and Bounce dryer sheets. In the light bulb aisle, right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off-brand labeled 'Everyday Value.' I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the stats--they were the same except for the price (GE bulbs cost more than the Everyday Value brand), but what surprised me the most? Get ready for this! The GE light bulb was made in Mexico. The Everyday Value brand was...'Made in the USA' (in a company in Cleveland, OH)!
On to another aisle--Bounce Dryer Sheets. Yep--you guessed it...Bounce cost more money and is made in Canada. The 'Everyday Value' brand was less money and MADE IN THE USA! I did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the Bounce Free I've been using for years--and at almost half the price!
My challenge to you is to start reading the labels on everything you buy! Look for things 'MADE IN THE USA!' [It might take an extra minute or two when you first start looking at labels, but soon you'll learn which products are 'Made in the USA,'--although it's wise to re-check occasionally].
Throw out the 'myth' that you cannot find products you use every day made right here in the USA! So you might have to switch brands...but you will be buying AMERICAN and, more than likely, saving money! [You might even find you like the new brand better!]
Stop buying from overseas companies! The job you save may be your own or your neighbors!"
If you accept this "challenge," pass this on to others in your address book! Let's all start buying AMERICAN--one light bulb at a time! [Or--one grasshopper + one grasshopper + one grasshopper, etc., will eventually stop the "run-away train" that is our nation's economy!]
Help our fellow Americans keep their jobs and create more jobs HERE--in the USA!
