Drug Catapult Found at U.S.-Mexico Border

Published January 26, 2011 | FoxNews.com

http://tags.bluekai.com/site/668Drug smugglers trying to get marijuana across the Arizona-Mexico border apparently are trying a new approach -- a catapult.

National Guard troops operating a remote video surveillance system at the Naco Border Patrol Station say they observed several people preparing a catapult and launching packages over the International Border fence last Friday evening.

"It looks like a medieval catapult that was used back in the day," Tucson sector Border Patrol spokesman David Jimarez told Reuters.

Tucson TV station KVOA said Border Patrol agents working with the National Guard contacted Mexican authorities, who went to the location and disrupted the catapult operation.

The 3-yard tall catapult was found about 20 yards from the U.S. border on a flatbed towed by a sports utility vehicle, according to a Mexican army officer with the 45th military zone in the border state of Sonora.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A Bulgarian man was sentenced Thursday to two years and a day in prison for stealing the identity of an Ohio boy who was kidnapped and killed at age 3.

Doitchin Krastev, who used the name for more than a decade while living as an American citizen, apologized to his own family for "falling off the face of the Earth" and to the family of Jason Robert Evers, whose name, birthday and Social Security number he assumed in 1996.
Krastev had a private meeting with the child's relatives, who wanted to be sure he knew Jason Evers was a real human being, not a faceless name. The meeting helped humanize Krastev, the boy's sister, Amy Evers, said afterward. But she was unsure if the apology was genuine.
"He's lived for 15 years in a lie," Evers said. "It's kind of hard to be truthful when you've lied for so long."

Bill Would Ban Illegal Immigrants From NC Colleges

Raleigh, NC -- A Republican lawmaker is proposing a law barring illegal immigrants from attending North Carolina community colleges and universities.
Rep. George Cleveland of Onslow County filed a bill Thursday that would reverse admissions rules in effect for University of North Carolina campuses and the country's third-largest community college system.
The state community colleges board voted last year to admit illegal immigrants to classrooms if they graduated from a U.S. high school, pay out-of-state tuition and don't displace a citizen.
The community colleges have changed the illegal immigrant admission policy four times since 2000.
The Pew Hispanic Center says North Carolina had about 275,000 illegal immigrants in 2009, down from about 350,000 in 2008

Hello.

I hope you'll take a minute to look at the link below.  It's the current status of E-Verify (electronic verify through the US gov't -- it's a free tool to match info given by new and existing hires as employees to confirm they are legally that person and not using fake id's to gain employment).   It is not discriminatory; it is used only after being hired.

If now isn't the time to crack down on illegals, then I don't when that will be.  Illegals are depressing wages for everyone (currently dealing with it myself in my job!) and taking jobs that Americans and legal residents should be getting if employers with more ethical.

Currently, E-Verify is voluntary and only about 15% of employers use it, even though it's growing in use.
Unscrupulous employers still hide behind the "I-9" form they use to "confirm" identification, which is a joke.  It confirms nothing.  Most illegals use fake or stolen ID's!  I know -- I had identity theft years ago and took me a year to straighten everything out.  It's common knowledge that every weekend illegals are getting fake id's at the Ortiz flea market in Ft Myers, and I believe the local one on Bonita Beach Rd.  I've called the cops and NBC-2 to investigate and nothing happens.

When I worked at a well known local chain restaurant, I overheard the owner talking with the numerous illegals who worked in the kitchen and in food prep (they voluntarily admitted to me they were here illegally!). I heard the owner ask the illegals "where'd you get these id's?  These look pretty good."   He KNEW he was hiring illegals with fake id's!  E-Verify, if required, would stop this!

Jobs for Americans, not illegals!  And, getting illegals to self deport would save the American taxpayers BILLIONS a year that could be going to the citizens of the US!   Not to mention reducing crimes committed against Americans.

Pass it on if you agree.

Thanks,
