Hi Rick
You might try ajusting the spindle nut.
Run the spindle out until you see the top of the barrel,on top
is a nut .Tighten it a little at a time.
The nut take the slop/wear in the threads up.
It does not hurt to try.

You are right about not beeing able to do any thing about the cheap mic,
except buy a better one $$.
If it is off 0.0002 ,for most hobbist work ,I would not worry about it.
