Ron,
I was not aware that this square is adjustable. Beyond hitting the joint
with a prick punch, how do you adjust it?
As for testing if the square is at 90 degrees, that was a few articles ago:

Rick,
You do know that type of square is adjustable, right? You need two of
them to check the accuracy of the 90 degrees.
In using this for a standard, you should start by truing the square.
