Rick good job. just one thing, the first picture you show is the wrong way to use the original tool support. Look at the manual that came with the grinder. It's use is the same as yours. For short tools I made an extention for the tool so it's not too far away for the grinding wheel.
Someone mentioned the wheels are soft. Are they green(silicon carbide)? If so they are for grinding carbide tool bits and will appear soft if grinding hss tools or mild steel. Carbide tools will destroy the gray or white wheels(aluminum oxide) just as quickly.
