100,000 MARCH WITH LIGHT RAIL TRAIN IN JERUSALEM: More than 100,000 people marched in downtown Jerusalem last Tuesday in the annual Succot March that this year also marked the completion of track laying on the city's main street for a new light rail system. The event took place on the day before the end of the seven-day holiday of Succot and the beginning of the holiday of Simchat Torah, the "Rejoicing of the Torah."  After years of work, Jaffa Street was the venue for the largest-ever Jerusalem March held in the city. The theme of this year's event was "Downtown Returns to the Citizens," referring to the years of construction which effectively made the center of town almost impassible, and marked 100 years of public transportation in Jerusalem.  Thousands of visiting Christians in the country for the Succot celebration also participated in the march. GOLAN WIND FARM UNDERWAY, DECLARED NATIONAL PROJECT: PM Binyamin Netanyahu signed a decree last week which declares the plan by the Multimatrix Company to build a large wind farm in the Golan Heights a national project, according to a report in Globes. While Israel has traditionally focused on solar power, recently it has begun to put more resources into developing its wind energy industry. Israel plans to more than triple its use of wind energy over the next decade.  Wind energy is one of the solutions to the expected energy shortage in Israel in the coming years. (INN)

YESHA CHAIR: US' OFFER IS POISONOUS PILL: One week after the settlement movement marked the end of the West Bank construction freeze, the Yesha movement on Saturday commended PM Netanyahu's refusal to compromise on the matter. Yesha Council Chairman Danny Dayan said any Israeli agreement to reinstate the settlement moratorium will be perceived as political concessions to the Palestinians, even before the peace process gained any true momentum.  "Those urging Prime Minister Netanyahu to accept Obama's offer lack in reading comprehension," he said. "They either fail to understand the gravity of the offer or are deliberately trying to trick Netanyahu."  Dayan's statement came following a reported incentive package the Washington administration offered the prime minister, in exchange for a 60-day extension of the settlement freeze. Speaking of reports suggesting the American presid ent promised Israel it could retain IDF presence in the Jordan valley as part of a future peace deal, Dayan said that should Israel agree to that, "It may as well admit it has given up on the area and all the communities in it before the negotiations have even begun. Otherwise, why would anyone need to agree to have Israeli military presence? This would be an admission that Israel is willing to return to the 1967 lines – borders which cannot be defended. There is no deal here, nothing that offers any incentive for two additional months of settlement freeze. THE SETTLEMENT FREEZE ONLY HINDERED NEGOTIATIONS: Talks with the Americans over the end of the construction freeze and Palestinian threats to break off direct talks after barely one month continued over the weekend. The Americans can't understand how PM Netanyahu rejected the compromise prepared by Defense Minister Ehud Barak, which would have had Israel extend the moratorium for 60 days in return for favors from Obama. Netanyahu can't understand why he has been pushed into a corner: He called a 10-month freeze, stuck to it, and granted the Palestinians some economic and security relief. Why don't they complain to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who wasted nine months of the freeze with evasive tricks? In terms of results, the moratorium was a failure. It greatly delayed the Palestinians' agreement to negotiate. Now it's threatening to end negotiations completely. "What I was afraid would happen, has ha ppened," said Knesset speaker Reuven Rivlin (Likud). "We made an attempt to show goodwill, build relations, but I warned Netanyahu after the decision was made that it would end badly. Settlement building resumed across the West Bank on Monday just hours after a 10-month freeze expired, (Ha'aretz)

Soros has given $750,000 to J Street.  Another $811,697 came from a mysterious woman in Hong Kong named Consolacion Esdicul, who has apparently acted as a representative for a New Yo rk hedge fund with close connections to George Soros.  Soros also has close ties with US president Obama and it has been reported that had it not been for the Hungarian-born billionaire George Soros, Obama would not be President of the US today. IRAN PUTS OFF NUCLEAR PLANT LAUNCH: Iran's first nuclear power plant will begin supplying energy in early 2011, a senior official said Wednesday, signaling a delay of several months.  Iranian officials said the Stuxnet virus had hit staff computers at the Bushehr plant. Some analysts believe Iran may be suffering wider sabotage aimed at slowing its nuclear advances, pointing to a series of unexplained technical glitches that have cut the number of working centrifuge machines at the Natanz enrichment plant. Tehran is reportedly bent on military action to settle scores with Israel and the US whom it suspects of planting the malignant Stuxnet cyber worm in the controls of its nuclear, military and strategic systems. ISRAEL WARNS LEBANON ON AHMADINJAD TOUR: Israel warned Lebanon not to allow Iranian President Ahmadinjead to tour the border between the two countries. Ahmadinejad, who has denied the Holocaust, called for the removal of the Jewish state and whose government is suspected of preparing for the manufacture of a nuclear weapon, will visit Lebanon this week and plans a tour of the border area. Israeli authorities have made representations through US, UN and French intermediaries warning Lebanon to keep Ahmadinejad away from the border area. The Iranian President reportedly intends to hurl stones at Israeli soldiers from Lebanese border.  (JTA)  "Let not a slanderer be established on the earth." 140:1
ASSAD IN TEHRAN FOR MEETING WITH AHMADINEJAD: Syrian President Bashar Assad arrived Saturday in Iran for talks with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that are expected to focus on the effect of international sanctions on Tehran and Syria's stance on the latest peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, the official Iranian news agency IRNA reported. IRNA also disclosed that Assad will be awarded the country's highest national medal for his support of Palestinian terrorist group Hamas and the Lebanese terrorist organization, Hezbollah. Syria is Iran's main ally in the Middle East and both countries consider Israel to be their political arch-foe. (Ha'aretz)

Pink Floyd's Roger Waters Accused of Anti-Semitism by Anti-Defamation League

Accusations of anti-Semitism have been levelled at ex-Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). The League's director Abe Foxman believes the use of Jewish signs as part of an animated video backdrop during Waters' new tour 'The Wall Live' pander to "age-old anti-Semitic stereotypes."

The offending video, which accompanies 'Goodbye Blue Sky,' shows symbols including dollar signs, Stars of David, crosses and Islam's crescent moon, alongside Shell and Mercedes logos, being dropped like bombs from an airplane.

According to the Guardian, Foxman said, "Of course, Waters has every right to express his political views about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through his music and stagecraft. However, the images he has chosen, when put together in the same sequence, cross a line into anti-semitism."

He added, "We wish Waters had chosen some other way to convey his political views without playing into and dredging up the worst age-old antisemitic stereotype about Jews and their supposed obsession with making money."

Quick to defend her husband, Laurie Durning told the New York Post, "Since this tour started on Sept. 15, we've had dozens and dozens of reviews and over 120,000 audience members and I've never heard anyone interpret the show in the way this guy Abe Foxman has -- and of course it's most definitely because he hasn't actually seen it."

Going on the offensive she continued, "This show is unapologetically anti-war, and we would really like to put a quick end to any possible rumours of it being in any way negative towards any group of people. It absolutely does not call up any 'anti-Semitic stereotypes.'"
