I have some of the coban wrap from Rio Grande and find it quite helpful to
wrap a little around my finger to protect it from thread cutting into the
skin. I also use it to protect my palms when using my pliers a lot over a
short space of time. Although they are very good quality and have covered
handles they have given me blisters in the past when I have used them for an
extended period.
I notice that Rio Grande also do leather finger guards which may work as
well. I'm sure there are other supply companies that have similar items.
