[gingery_machines] New calculator

 

I uploaded a file containing a calculator I wrote in python. It calculates
the correct rpm for a lathe spindle given diameter and material or surface
speed. Diameter is in inches, speed is in feet per minute.

It's under 'Mr.Meker's Calculator'. If you want to use it, you have to
download the .zip file. Then unzip to its own folder. Inside the folder you
will find a shortcut. Copy that to you desktop.

Right now, the calculator supports aluminum, mild steel, and brass, and
carbide and hss for cutters. If you want to use it for something else, find
out what the correct speed in feet per minute is and enter that under the
'custom' option in the material selection section. If you find any errors or
would like more materials added, reply to this post.

I'm not sure if this will work on anything but windows 7, because that is
the only thing I have tested it on. Go ahead and try it though. I want to
know!
