Brewer to Countersue Federal Government Over Immigration Enforcement
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer announced Thursday that her state will file a countersuit against the federal government, claiming Washington has failed to enforce immigration law along the southern border.
The governor said the federal government hasn't secured the state's border with Mexico and has stuck Arizona with the costs tied to illegal immigration.
"Because the federal government has failed to protect the citizens of Arizona, I am left with no other choice," Brewer said.
Brewer went "On the Record" with Fox News' Greta Van Susteren Thursday night and said she is "in it to win it."
"We're continually looking at arrests of drug cartels," she said. "It's just intolerable."
"We will fight it all all the way to the Supreme Court," she added."
The announcement is the latest swipe in the ongoing legal dispute between Arizona and the U.S. Department of Justice over the state's tough immigration law. After the Obama administration challenged that law, a judge last year blocked key portions of it from going into effect. While the case is on appeal, Brewer said the countersuit will be filed as part of the federal government's challenge.

Over the past year, thousands of illegal aliens from India -- mainly Sikhs -- have crossed illegally into Texas from Mexico and immigration officials have been caught by surprise by the influx. Kumar Kibble, deputy director of ICE, says this illegal Indian immigration is the "most significant" human-smuggling being followed by authorities.
In 2009, the Border Patrol only arrested 99 Indian nationals along the entire Southwest border.  Since early 2010, more than 1,600 have been apprehended in Southern Texas alone.  Although there is no evidence that this Indian-smuggling pipeline is being used to smuggle potential terrorists into the country, ICE states it is focusing on the problem. Kibble went on to say:

It's a dramatic increase.  We do want to monitor these pipelines and shut them down because it is a vulnerability.  They could either knowingly or unknowingly smuggle people into the U.S. that pose a national security threat.

Babeu: Cartel Showdown in Arizona Desert Imminent

CASA GRANDE - Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, never shy in voicing his opinion about the threat of armed drug runners and border violence, is now saying that a showdown with the cartels is just around the corner.
He's not talking in figurative terms, he means an actual physical showdown in the desert, a gun battle if the drug runners don't surrender.
Babeu says his department is shutting down the well-known drug corridor, which leads from the border into the heart of our state.
That 360-mile stretch may or may not be secure, depending on who you ask.
"All the illegals and drugs overwhelmingly are funneled right through Pinal County," says Babeu.
Sheriff Paul Babeu is often in the spotlight for his outspoken stance on what he calls an ineffective federal government whose inaction is endangering people in Pinal County, 70 miles or so removed from the border.
As he told FOX 10, a showdown with heavily armed drug cartels will happen soon, as drug violence in Mexico, that's claimed 30,000 lives in recent years, spills over into the states.
