how long should it take for the refractory to dry...i had the furnace and li in the garage for 2 days...i put them out in the sun yesterday and they dont look wet anymore...how long do i have to wait till i can start adding refractory on the sides of the furnace?

This will cause the flame path directed into the crucible and really should go around. Impingment on the crucible will cause a hot spot and burn a hole into it rather fast! Before the refactory dries you could dig it out and correct this but I hope I am wrong as the rest of the furnaces looks pretty good! Even if your planning on charcoal this will cause trouble so needs to be corrected!

And it works well for aluminum. Sopposedly, the Perlite improves the heat retention, but I have no standard to measure it against. Hope this helps.
