Not the gingery, but I did build a brake. It was made from heavy angle
iron. The only really critical part is the pivots. Make sure the center
of the pivots is exactly on the corner of the base.
You may be better off making a press brake. I have a small one from
Harbor freight that fits on a 6" vise.
I operated a 10 foot cnc press brake for over a year. You can do some
amazing things with one.
I built a small cnc router using laser cut parts bent on a press brake.
I figured the largest pattern I could pour and sized the router
accordingly. The working envelope is 12" x 12" x 6". It uses a full size
craftsman router for the spindle, but will also mount a Sherline mill
head or a Dremel.
BTW, make sure you cut out all the thin rusty metal on your truck and
weld to strong material.
